Originally created in 1782 by Gen. George Washington to recognize meritorious service, the Purple Heart was later changed during World War 2 to recognize combat injuries and deaths. 

As of June 2022, it is estimated that over 1.9 million Purple Hearts have been awarded to American service men and women across all branches. 

August 7th every year is recognized as "National Purple Heart Day" Be sure to wear your tee then and show your support.
